Bird Watching Tours

A Birder’s Paradise

Belize offers bird enthusiasts the opportunity to observe over 570 species of our feathered friends. Because of Belize’s protected rainforests and small population, we have a vast number of undisturbed habitats where tropical birds flock and thrive. Our country has become a favorite among not only birders, but nature lovers of all kinds.

The natural vegetation of fruit, berry, and nut trees along the banks of many Belize rivers are home to an abundance of nests. You will see a mixture of keel-billed toucans (Belize’s national bird!), green herons, pale-billed woodpeckers, squirrel cuckoos, hummingbirds, and much more while on our Belize bird watching tours.

A birder’s paradise indeed, the lush vegetation of Sittee River attracts a majority of the 500 known species of birds in Belize. Situated along the riverbanks between the Caribbean coast and the mountainous rainforest, Sittee River’s location makes these diverse habitats easily accessible to serious and novice bird watchers alike. Our knowledgeable and friendly guides will be sure to point out a variety of species.

Never had a bad tour and the local guides knocked it out of the park. One day you’re on top of ancient Mayan ruins and the next you’re up close and personal with two endangered animals in completely different ecosystems. – TripAdvisor user
